When choosing
the songs for this album, we decided not to include the garden
variety of carols such as “Silent Night” or “Jingle
Bells”. Songs like those are easily found on many CD’s.
We elected to choose very lovely and more unfamiliar carols, some
from around the world in foreign languages. The first song “Kling
Glöchchen” (Ring Little Bells) is sung in both German
and in English. In addition, there are two carols in French and
one in Spanish.
Each song
has its own beautiful orchestrated accompaniment, arranged and
performed by Dean Anderson, on tracks both with and without the
vocals. At Christmastime everyone can sing, so we have included
harmony parts for the songs “Song of the Wise Men”
and “Son of Mary”. An all-time favorite is “Rise
Up Shepherd and Follow”. A lesser-known carol from England
is “King Jesus Hath a Garden”.
Students
who study this set of songs will want to sing them again year
after year. Use the accompaniment tracks and offer a splendid
Christmas recital in your own home!
